BackgroundThe club was formed as an informal association in 2004 when a group of young people on the New Orleans Estate, in North Islington, approached members of their Tenants & Residents Association (TRA), seeking help in establishing a football club on the estate. Operating as a sub-committee of the TRA, the club soon obtained support from the Local Authority and others. This enabled infrastructure development, design of the club’s logo and the employment of professional CRB checked football coaches, (provided by Access 2 Sports, based at the Sobell Centre, Holloway North London), to run free sessions on the estate for young people in the area.
